Description
Mark Holbrook and I have been talking about doing a song together for a while and I finally came up with a song that I thought would work for us.
I laid down a “live” acoustic version with a drum loop to keep me in time and sent it off to Mark for a listen. Luckily he liked what he heard and we were off.
I re-did the rhythm guitar using my G&L ASAT and re-sang the vocal as a separate track and sent it off to Mark who added some fantastic drums, bass and keys to fatten it all up. Mark also added the backing vocals, which work a treat.
Both of us had a go at a lead break but it turned out to be a lot harder than it seemed initially to get something sounding good over the progression so we turned to Sigmund to get us out of a jam.
And boy did he deliver! I had a smile on my face a mile wide when I listened to what he had put down. Much kudos, Sig.
Mark did a fantastic job of the mix/master as well.
We hope you like what we have put together.
And, as you can probably tell from the lyrics, I am not a big fan of what is happening in Australian politics at the moment but I have a feeling the sentiment is universal...
Thanks so much to Mark and Sig for agreeing to come on board.
Regards,
Peter ☺

Questions - Peter Bowen (January 2014) CAPO 2
[Dm7] [Csus2] x4
I'm gonna [Dm7] float some questions [Csus2] out on the wind
[Dm7] See where the answers [Csus2] fall
[Dm7] Questions of hope and hu-[Csus2]-manity
And why the [Dm7] writing's on the [Csus2] wall
[D9] Some say that I'm just [G/D] wasting my time;
That [D9] truth is a casual-[G/D]-ty
But this [Dm7] war ain't over till the [Csus2] fat lady sings;
And until [Dm7] then I'll keep shaking the [Csus2] tree
[Fmaj7] If you ask no [Cmaj7] questions
[Fmaj7] You'll still get told the [Cmaj7] lies
[Fmaj7] A heady mix of smoke and [Cmaj7] mirrors and spin
And [Dmadd9/A] auto-cue alibis [E7]
Politicians strut their hour on the stage, their hand upon their heart
Sincerity drips from their scriptwriter’s page until the polls map a downward chart
Strings and sealing wax are easily reworked to keep a hold on power
But when people start screaming "cometh the man", it's hardly cometh their finest hour
If you ask no questions
You'll still get told the lies
A heady mix of smoke and mirrors and spin
And auto-cue alibis
Lead over full verse
If you ask no questions
You'll still get told the lies
A heady mix of smoke and mirrors and spin
And auto-cue alibis
Outro
[Fmaj7] Questions of [Cma7] hope
[Fmaj7] Confounded by [Cma7] lies
[Fmaj7] Questions of [Cma7] love
[Fmaj7] Debased by cheap [Cma7] alibis
[Fmaj7] Questions of [Cma7] wealth
[Fmaj7] Well, that’s just one for the [Cma7] wise...
[Fmaj7] Questions of [Cma7] health
[Fmaj7] Would you like that with fries? [Cmaj9]

Wow, this is great! Nice thick warm rhythm guitar sound and the drums sound good ... well the whole mix is fine... Peter I like the chord/melody in the bridge chorus ... nothing like playing leads and singing over major chords. Sig sounds great! Did he double the lead or use an octavider ... well, whatever it is I like it. Top guys!!!
