Beethoven Piano Concerto 'Emperor' 2nd Movement

Another for my electro-classical collection. This is my all time favourite work from lovely Ludwig, but be warned; if you are a purist you might not want to listen. There are no sampled instruments in this, it's all 'synthetic'!

It's an incredibly complex piece and I've loved exploring it to see how it's all put together. I'm not sure how well I've revoiced it, as ever, but it's certainly been a real pleasure working on it, however it's turned out. It's taken forever to do and I'm not sure how listenable you might find it. Crits welcome of course.

I've uploaded a high quality MP3 and it's yours if you want it. Thanks!

Hi Dave....
I am a secret Beethoven music lover. This mix is a great interpretation of this second movement. I for one will be listening to this more.

My favourite is the second movement of the 5th Symphony. It is so NOT like the other movements. The calm between the storms!!

Thank you for spending the time on this.

Take care.

I really can't imagine how much time you spent on this.
A splendid interpretation.

No complaints at all.

As I said, I can't believe how much time you must have spent on this.

I am NOT a purist in these matters and I think this sounds just wonderful. We might have had an LP with this piece at home when I grew up, but it's not something I recognize per se, but I can understand it's a favorite of yours. After listening to this a few more times I think it might become one of mine as well :-)

I don't think I can even guess at the amount of work you've put into this, but you can sure be proud of the result. Congratulations and thank YOU - I DO want a copy and I'll click the download button any second now ;-)

Hoping everything is fine with you,

van the man
I'm not overly familiar with the original but this sounds fine to me ( I'm not a purist}.
I presume you assign separate midi tracks to each separate instrument which I guess is where some of the hard work is
Everything sounds good and nothing jars or makes one think 'ah, I wouldn't have chosen that sound'
I stopped listening with my head after a while and just flowed along with the music and let it absorb me and float around me.
Worth the work you put into it.
Really well done

Ludwig von Davajonah
Fabuloso, sir! How did you do it? Did you actually pencil in all those notes? Not a big classical fan, although I actually own a few Ludwig CDs. There's no denying the beauty of this piece and your wonderful rendition. DLed in the interest of furthering my musical education. Tip o' the hat.

Masterful arrangement
A great take on this movement. The quiet 2nd movement is harder to capture than the fast movements. Lovely voicing. The choice of sounds makes it easy to follow the counterpoint. Downloaded. Thanks.

Very beautiful arrangement...
You have re-imagined this with elegance and great care and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing what you did with it, most appreciative of your skill and patience in this orchestration. I do wonder, though, about your choice for the keyboard. While I do like the general sound of it and the responsiveness of articulation, it strikes me as a bit high-pitched and tingly in the context of the rest of your mid-range instruments. That's not so much a criticism as it is a personal preference for a more authentically-sounding piano. I also like the "room" where you've placed all of this. There is some substantial reverb, but you've somehow corralled it so that it feel quite natural. This is certainly impressive work and I thank you for your diligent attention to so many of the details in this piano classic.
