LDS Blues

After 175 years of the LDS churches claim that the Book of Mormon is true, there isn't a single shred of evidence supported by any source outside the LDS church !

Yet the Bible with all it's errors, has tons of artifacts, structures, Jerusalem etc. Substantiated by any organization outside of it's own source.

I'm a good example of one that got caught in the hoopla that it was true when I first joined the LDS church! The stories I thought were incredible. But people don't investigate and think that a burning - in - the bosom is enough. So many including me didn't, I feel foolish about this because I even uploaded songs about Joseph Smith thinking he was a super hero! For that I feel I should of really done my homework about the foundation of the Book of Mormon but didn't for decades ! :(

When you give of your time and tithing etc. You owe it to yourself to really be careful about how things can be untrue when others call them true and enduring. People in suit and ties that are doctors, respected citizens do not always have the keys to knowledge even though they may look like they do !

Many names in this song, many will not understand if they never investigated mormonism but they are vital in understanding whether the book of mormon has supporting evidence.

A fine groove Bill!
I know very little about LDS (I even had to look up what the initials stood for) so thanks for a little bit of education.

Very nicely done indeed :-)

Hell yes!
My aunt and uncle have always tried to convert me to Mormonism so I have been researching those sneaky bastards for years. Unfortunately they realized I am too smart to be tricked into joining. Oh well, funny song :)

But they could be somewhat innocent
Ultra ! You can really get caught up in the hoopla. The stories seem quite amazing to say the least. And if you think that the stories are really neat and the missionaries are so enthusiastic and are convinced themselves etc. I could very easily see people being really dedicated to that church. They help people move when they need to move to a new city etc.

But to value so highly leadership positions and they do and how high one goes to the top such as a steak president or becoming and getting recognition amongst their peers and then not having the truth such as establishing the legitimacy of the book of mormon to me is a terrible thing. To have these leaders demand you obtain a temple recommend and pay a tenth of your tithing to enter in that temple. And all the dedication it takes to go to the temple and yet not HAVING ONE ARTIFACT TO BACK UP THE BOOK OF MORMON is hurtful to a member honestly seeking truth! It truly can be devastating to a new possible member who is verified by missionaries giving the lessons that the book of mormon is true w

you found out the hard way Bill, but it does say that the Kingdom of heaven is within and nothing is more true; that's why I've had it with all Orthodoxy and why after a lifetime searching I had to wait till I was 77 yrs old to get what I've learned down in music
( http://www.macjams.com/song/78067 .....It's True), which you liked so much.
So pleased you made it all sound so good though...really nice groove, regards M

They have a ton
of great things in the church don't get me wrong. Dinners, dances etc. If it wasn't for that church I would of never met my wife. I even spent a year in the recording studio, my wife complained she hardly even saw me. I wrote 5 songs and a 6th one set to Bach with my lyrics added. A famous C major instrumental. I honestly thought the Joseph Smith was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I mean when he was shot in Carthage Jail, truly thought he was a hero's hero.

But then I read a book by Grant Palmer, this guy was a great leader in the churches seminary program. I mean a guy as orthodox as they come. And his book: An Insider's View of Mormon Origins. And basically he nailed so many problems with the Book of Mormon. Such as words that don't belong in the time period the book of mormon said it was. He would use words like Adieu when it was never used in Book of Mormon time period it was supposed to be used. No coins have ever been found in ancient south america, wheat etc. all of that before columbus but they were never there.

And to this day, NO BOOK OF MORMON ARTIFACTS have ever been substantiated outside the LDS Church. Such as museums etc. I could go on and on. But years ago I uploaded those songs here at macjams I didn't want to take them off, just a reminder to people to beware to do your HOMEWORK before you join and put a ton of time in an organization that may not have the truth you think it did.

Or even have kids etc. that are dedicated, or a wife that is dedicated and you could be like the roach motel you can check in but you may never check out because you don't want to divorce your wife because she is committed to the church. Luckily I don't have that problem. But on the other hand if you can live a lie and be happy to have a church as a club etc. then whatever. I just value truth in the since that, it just really irritates me that there are NO ARTiFACTS in supposed book of mormon lands :( Thats after 175 + years of the churches existence. That just can't be to have a book that is supposed to have artifacts in both South America and North America anciently of Jewish decent! :(

Thanks so much Maurice for stopping by. To be honest I get afraid sometimes to even peek on songs like this because I think people might get offended. But I owe it to myself to do this because I loaded tons of songs praising Joseph Smith, now honestly I have to hone up and say how I feel after reading so much historical info online even by the LDS's own leaders etc. Such as BH Roberts and a former Bishop and a great mans book Simon Southerton's "In Search of a Lost Tribe". A book on DNA and how it doesn't verify that Hebrews nver lived in South America or N.America in the supposed Book of Mormon time period.

But I sure thought for years that book was true !

Johnny Cash-like...
vocal... but more that that, much more. Great tune, Bill. Guitar work is alone worth the price of admission. Religion... the source of much consternation, warring, searching, and solace. Thanks for sharing this one.

Which Way Is Up?
As most have probably figured out by now, I am an agnostic when it comes to things religious. That means to me that I don't believe but also don't disbelieve any religion out there. I just think that no one or religion really knows what is going on. That said Mormonism is, as you have pointed out, the most improbable of all religions if for no other
reason than it was founded in modern times and it's history can be researched so well. Holes in the beliefs that you can drive a truck through. From the Indian tribes that have no Jewish DNA to the golden tablets that just mysteriously disappeared. Brave song Bill, thanks for writing it.
