Wild Blood

And another jam the Hounds turned into a song.
After recording the tune we sat around a ribbon mic and sang ... trying to get the room sound. Donnie sang the lead and we backed him up. Donnie had written some ideas for lyrics with the wild blood concept. We all collaborated on the words ... I added some accordion and other nuances in the mix.

Stan Gadziola guitar vocals nuances mix
Rob George bass vocals gearhead /
Donnie MacNeil drums vocals beer

Another jam turned into a song...
...I've been reading about Duke Ellington and learned that many of his best known standards had their origins in a riff or two he may have heard from one of his musicians during a session--maybe this will become a standard too! Wow, this really is so redolent of the 60s, but it's new! In the pocket guys--and is that a kazoo I hear? I point out the time on the track, but the counter is not working on the player (oy!) Just three of you--sounding like the Electric Light Orchestra, amazing. Fabulous work! Michael

What a
cohesive band you have. I love it when all the band sings. It's even better when they all have good voices. Real kazoo or raspberries through the lips?
It sounds like the stuff I listened to when I was in High School.
I really had no idea HOW BIG the Beatles were going to be. I liked their songs but I never screamed and went crazy. You guys are great. Thanks.

Wild Blood
I like the flow of the chord progression and the energetic vocal. The bass sits just right. The little additions add nice colour. Super guitar solo towards the end. Nice cartoon - which one is Donnie?

Growing Your Own
Jams are musical brainstorming sessions and a good deal of the musical fun comes from building from the bare bones of an idea to the fleshy goodness you've got here. It sounds great! ;)

...track is my favorite part of this song. I like the drop down at the beginning of each line and the very skillful way you wrap all of your shifting harmonies up at cadences so that they all make complete sense. For some reason I found the vocals in need of a little distance/reverb — not much, but just a bit. The piece also fells a bit like a Beatles kind of thinking in how the instrumentation is played out. Very very cool track that I very much enjoyed hearing this evening.

The Kazoo
Easy to learn, hard to master. According to the Temple City Kazoo Orchestra. Gets very stirring towards the end there, but not enough kazoo. Tsk.

Hi everyone. I have a page under Gadzooks but I felt that the Groove Hounds are starting to make our own sounds so I created a page for the band so we can upload some songs as we record them. The Groove Hounds are a Halifax based trio that play a ... [see more]
