Description
Happy Maccamas everyone! It's Sir Paul's 73rd birthday, and even though this is only in progress (Mark's only sent me "proof of concept" vocals and I haven't even sent this one to Alan for his bass part yet), I thought it was a delightful little Sir Paul tribute ("What if I threw 'Fixing a Hole' and 'Fool on the Hill' in a blender?"), so here's a work in progress in his honor.
This one also features the first guitar work of Abigail, my new Fender Stratocaster.
So.
Mark: Lead vocals, drums (forthcoming)
Alan: Bass (forthcoming)
Me: Backing vocals (still need a "George"), guitar, MIDI instruments (harpsichord, harmonium, Mellotron flutes and pennywhistle), percussion

Lyrics
I'm idling the day
Before this world can shatter me
I'm casting cares away
So nothing else will matter because
When I find I've lost my mind
And have to take a break
It's time to say
I'm idling the day away
There's far too much to do
And never time to get it done
I'd rather be with you
So we could have ourselves some fun
We'd call in dead and stay in bed
And then sweet love we'll make
It's time for play
And idling the day away
It seems to me there'll always be those
People who drag us down
They'll spread their lies but realize you
Don't have to stick around
It's time to say
I'm idling the day away
I often wonder why
They feel the need for hurrying
Because I know that I
Could use a lot less worrying
But they can't see you can be free
From all the world's mistakes
But that's okay
When idling the day away
It's time for play
And idling the day away
What's that you say
We're idling the day away
