Description
I live right and yet I keep falling down, always followed by a chorus of "I told you so".

Lyrics
Life is a Tootsie Roll Pop
working toward the center, and I'm never gonna' stop.

The goodness that awaits me is what I'm striving for
and if I don't suck I'll never really know
that life is what you make it, there is no in between
but you'll never know if you don't have a dream.

What have I told you and what did I say
I don't want to scold you or send you away
Why must you falter and fall by the way
you can't be successful if you don't pray

When I was a child my dreams were the sky
I could soar among the clouds when I learned how to fly
And now that I'm a man standing firmly on the ground
I found perfect balance but I still fall down

What have I told you and what did I say
I don't want to scold you or send you away
Why must you falter and fall by the way
you can't be successful if you don't pray

On my knees I close my eyes and turn down the noise
and find a quiet place of dignity and poise
I think to myself that heaven is within
it glows within my heart and sparkles like a gem.

What have I told you and what did I say
I don't want to scold you or send you away
Why must you falter and fall by the way
you can't be successful if you don't pray

I keep my eye on the prize, the low-fallen skies,
take the good with the bad but keep the best I ever had
and when the light in my eyes flickers and dims
I can honestly say I did more good than bad.

What have I told you and what did I say
I don't want to scold you or send you away
Why must you falter and fall by the way
you can't be successful if you don't pray

If you get knocked down, take a look around,
don't be so hasty to get up off the ground.
You're closer than you think when you're planted face down
but it's there in your eyes where the mystery can be found.

What have I told you and what did I say
I don't want to scold you or send you away
Why must you falter and fall by the way
you can't be successful if you don't pray

Excellent voice. Great song.
You have a voice that reminds me of Glen
Yarborough. The vibrato is so incredibly folky it's
awesome.
Pleasing, peaceful acoustic work. Has a nice subtle
richness.

Made me feel like I was having a bowl of hot soup
with Jimmy Stewart. Fantastic job.

Too much drums
The heavy right foot on the kick drum feels really out of
place in such a quiet song.

It aches with the best folk of the era
The pull and pulse of your vocals is so achingly folky and
wise. The lyrics are classic. Harmonies remind me of
vintage Peter, Paul (and Mary). Really great folk track.
