I made some progress, but needed to set this aside for a bit as I've lost forward momentum. The original Schubert piece picks up a triplet rhythm in the second section. Rather than follow that example, I decided to change from 11/4 to 7/4 instead. I also want to create a different instrumentality for this section, but I haven't been able to find the right blend of voices. This version introduces the 7/4 section, but then just trails off to indecision.

I think I need to do some shorter, less complex things for a while until I get back into a more playful mindset.

Brooding headphone heaven...
I'm glad I put on phones with some bass extension before listening, Brian...

This is very full, but very spacious, with both a sense of left-right space and a sense of front-back space...I like that the tones you use are resonant, granular, and organic in sound...

I'm there
Fabulous depth to your sounds, very cool mix of textures. You gotta take this forward some day. There are so many directions you can go and you can have such varied sections, just as you've already laid down. Nice. And thanks for the download.

Stupid Hans Zimmer
Thanks! I'm currently in the process of trashing it!

I made the mistake of sitting down for an attentive listen to the Blade Runner 2049 soundtrack...which is absolutely pristine. I threw the most recent mix of this piece on afterward and it sounded flat and lifeless by comparison. So...I'm reworking the mix and some synths from the ground up and trying to learn more about binaural processing before generating the next evolution of this one. Stay tuned...

per the title, maybe just have it go blaringly wild at some point ..or follow Zimmer's lead to some other sounds. god, i've been playing that soundtrack on repeat! such a thoughtful evolution of Vangelis' work. i like that it has a bass track to move it along, something i have never even considered. hmmmmm
