I'm sure you'd like to know
what the picture is all about. It's a scene from "King Leek". All has become lost - keys, credit card, spectacles, the lot.

Cool opening. The bass and the acoustic sound great together. I like how you have panned the insistent guitar "stabs" as well. David's (?) sympathetic drumming is a treat, too. Melodic acoustic prog rock par excellence. Nicely done. Take care.

Yep, David.
And I included that in the posting process. But it appears nowhere. Tom Hellstens mixed this one, and it sounds great as a result. The original acoustic is live, and attempt #1 I think. The rest was added later. It's as close to live as I can get when I play bass AND guitar. The second section was done separately from the first. I'm not that well organised! Thanks for the kind remarks, Peter.

love it
Tranquil sound. love the bass and how it fits the breaks in the rhythm. The guitar is excellent. Another impressive composition. Thanks for sharing.

Ta muchly
As a guitarist I find it hard to keep the bass simple, but doing so has taught me a lot about economy. That guy who said "Too many notes" was right.

Great production
Not normally a fan of this genre of music, but I had to listen to the very end. Great production, Bass is really cool sounding, I have no idea how you do that. Did you ever notice, when ever you lose something, you find it in the last place you look! Great tune!

I think it's just a decent bass
It's a Yamaha fretless, and is unbeatable for what I paid for it. It's not perfect, but it's good enough for me for now. Thanks for listening, Jimmy.

That expression on the King's face! This sounds sophisticated as hell. Loving it. I just get lost inside. Got it for a later listen.

the composition is great. it has a full sound without going deep into a lot of tracks.

Thanks, Vic
The bass fills things out almost singlehandedly. There are only five or six tracks, if you count the drums as one stem.

Lovely sound
Acoustic sounds great.

Good work on the bass too.

Sounds like a real drummer. I can't imagine doing that with loops.

David is real (and real good!)
You are correct. David McNair, Sam Dixon, Tom Hellsten and I keep Dropbox and WeTransfer very busy swapping large files. I always prefer a real drummer over the alternatives. Thanks for stopping by, Dick.

Rhythm Kings
Interesting composition, the percussion adds interest and that is a rare quality indeed here at MJ, this one recalls surf molesters and telenauts of the distant past to my ears, Dick Dale/Shadows should get a shout too perhaps? Great to hear you give the Harrison slide technique on the outro another go.
The use of reverb here is superior to the MJ standard once again. The discreet processing on each track is impressive and demonstrates attention to detail. Well done.

Original comment lost in ether
David's percussion is sympathetic to the tunes. He listens carefully and responds to the rhythms of the instruments, and invariably does a fantastic job. Tom's mixing is likewise top notch. Thanks for the kind remarks, Daug.

I have one of his albums, but didn't start tapping and thumping until I saw Kaki King in "August Rush". Flash is crap, isn't it? Thanks for trying anyway.
