Polar Vortex

Description
I recorded this in February as part of my RPM Challenge project. This was recorded live to four channels in Garageband. Korg Volca Kick, Makenoise 0-Coast, Arturia Microbrute, and Sequential circuits Pro-One. All analog gear. I recently finished reading the book ICE by Anna Kavan. Highly recommended for fans of speculative fiction or an early example of slipstream writing. In hindsight this could accompany the novel. You can hear the full RPM CD here: https://soundcloud.com/kevin-bud-jones/albums

Thanks Tim
The Pro-One I've had since 1981. It was really popular in England for it's bass sound on Depeche Mode, Yaz, and other dance bands. The other stuff I've collected over the last 5 years.

Repetition
I've been a sucker for small change and slow builds as long as I can remember. This is an edit of a much longer piece - but I didn't want to push the limit within the context of a bunch of other tracks. Thanks for dropping by, John.

Thoughts
Nice fragment - which forces one to imagine a bigger picture.

It sounds urban industrial to my ears, but that simply may be the result of a thought entering my head and refusing to let go. I mean it could just as well be called "cognitive process" or "frozen waterfall." A good piece of music will prompt multiple interpretations.

Drama!
Very cinematic - it builds up one ominous mood and fades to the next scene.

Evocative and ominous. Love the build-up. Something's happening here. What it is ain't exactly clear. :-)

Alessandro
This puts me in mind of an artist by the name of Alessandro Cortini. He uses very lush retro synths to build dense and warm rhythmic landscapes (he also happens to tour with Nine Inch Nails as their bassist and synth programmer). I dig the juxtaposition of the dry kick with the undulating and wet synth in this!

Cold and Calculating
Much like the process of Nature itself, this snippet is driving and relentless, methodical and powerful. ;)

Quite a haunting track despite only 2 minutes long. I'm enjoying the cool atmosphere here. Love the picture you posted too. Cheers.
