Lyrics
Refuge

The wind is blowing from the south
It is cutting through the trees
It brings a sense of restlessness
And a feeling of unease

There is ice inside that wind
I feel it on my face
I look towards the steel grey clouds
And I’m feeling out of place

Let’s go inside, the fire’s warm
I’ll pour a glass of wine
We always have a refuge here
Where we can read the signs

Sometimes when I’m in a crowd
A listlessness sets in
I hear a jangling dissonance
Of voices made of tin

Can’t listen to the chatter
The inconsequential talk
I need to be home again
Let’s take a little walk

Come inside the fire’s warm
I’ve poured a glass of wine
We always have a refuge here
Where we can read the signs

If the world’s a stranger
That was once someone you knew
If what you read is saying
That the worst things have come true

Come inside the fire’s warm
A place where you can find
A refuge from the noise of life
Let’s leave the world behind

We always have a refuge here
Free from a fitful mind

Dissonance of the World
Ah, there's no place like home to get away from the dissonant chords of the world.

No dissonant chords struck here. You have a remarkable ability to put together songs that resound with comfort and tranquility - even when singing about biting icy winds and restless flitting minds. I put it down to the wisdom of age .. and lots of practice that goes into making it sound easy : )

There have to be some benefits from getting older, Warren - and there are certainly benefits from lots of practice! Thanks for the comments - much appreciated.

Refuge
Another lovely song and performance, Philip. The guitars sound very good indeed. The vocal is as warm and enticing as a fire and a red. Funny, I must live in a dissonant zone. I find myself seeking refuge most nights... :-) I like the solo section int he middle, too. Fine work. Talk soon.

Thanks
I was happy with the acoustic guitar - the Messiah into the NT 1000 gives a warm, woody sound to my ears. You'll be pleased to know I had some of the FG100 in there too, but took it out. Apparently, even I can have too many guitars! See you soon.

Lovely work Philip
A gentle meditation on life that has much I identify with.

The world does indeed seem to be suffering from a kind of collective madness, then again maybe it always has done.

Although it's nice to travel and see different places and meet different people home is indeed a refuge.

Cheers

Dick

Refuge
Clean recording, guitar sounds nice and quite clear and vocals too. Much enjoyed, a special work. The piano was a welcome voice to my ears, I desired a hint more character in it's melody. 👍👍

Very very good
Good song and performance and production. Very nice man. I appreciate you breaking down the tracks and what you did on them. Also not too long. I like the old school three minutes give or take length. Nice.
