Hey KC
This particular groove is just a different thing isn't it? The Bitch just yacked right over the form, she even started making the changes as the tune progressed... she just had to get warmed up.

you can't say the b word
not here anyway. I suppose context and intention are all that matters, and who can say what yours are? An ode to your Yamaha? Well she's sounding pretty elegant on this one. I dig ur not at all basic blues progression and the percussive elements are choice.... bongos, shakers, and tambourines, oh my! thanks for sharing your work.

Bitch
Dis Bitch is my number one. She sits in a stand, as opposed to hanging on a wall hook, like most of my other Bitches. She got her nick from my wife about thirty years ago. "Put that Bitch down and pay attention," I think was the quote. Been a long time... I ended up with five Bitches like this one, this one is not the most vocal, the real vocal one is a guitar named "Stinky", maybe it's her turn next. So many Bitches, so little time.

Some nifty guitar work
Sounds excellent. It's not often we get a good blues/rock/jazz instrumental.

Nice one Mr D.

Hello Freddy
Okay, you posted. My challenge was not for you my friend, but I will certainly listen to your tune, yours are always great. The challenge came when I posted "Q the Giant", and specifically required our friends to let the music do the talking. As opposed to running their masters mouth in the forums, but that seems to be all they can do... lol we will give them more time. Thanks for dropping by.

Hello Mike
Miss playing live? Not so much, I miss the musicians that I played with on a regular basis. I especially don't miss paying the bar tab. Just 'cos it's us an all, I still recall getting half the bar along with half the heads as standard to take a gig. It still blows my mind that Ziti would take a Tuesday night jam night gig for $200.00. I can remember my wife complaining that if I didn't get $300.00 to leave the house the gig was not worth taking, and she had the spreadsheet to back up her arguement. It was half the bar that made gigs pay. I was saving money lol.

very impressive
Puts my clunky old chugging to shame, guess I'm more of a words man, only wish I could accompany myself with playing as good as this! Great listen, cheers.

Stan in the house
I appreciate yer chugging just the same. As Mike was saying above I played in lots of bands. I learned how to play over a set of changes and craft a solo on the spot. I am using a method. First pass outlines the harmony, I literally play the notes in the chords one after another to make certain I have the inside of the tune mapped. Next it's time to work the tensions/active tones and play with the time in the piece by compressing the lines into the changes and so on. There are lots of technique things here, but basically it is first run and done. I am glad you enjoyed the piece, I just hear the clams, bad timing and poor phrasing... so it's a rare thing I can actually listen to myself and relax.

Hello Mr. Gretch
I love the big ears when they come by, 'cos I get to talk composition.
That departure works without roots, the bass sits out there, the departure moves through two nearby keys before the arrival of an almighty pivot chord. If the bass plays the roots through this section the voice leading played on the guitar through the changes becomes unnecessary/redundant information. The Bitch clearly sings her way through the changes and makes a strong statement on the D7/9 chord. This completes a modulation, the G tonality is established, (the tune is F major prior to the departure point) now with G firmly in place all manner of sass gets thrown down in celebration. So we started in F, visited C and D major then came out into G and ripped it up before restating material from the opening phrasing in the new key and tagging out.
Glad you stopped by, hope to see you next time.

A Yamaha, eh?
Mine's an inexpensive relative that some previous owner tricked out with Fender bits and pieces. Yours sounds great. A bit too far back in the mix though.

Hey G!
I have been playing a '59 LP named Peacock a lot lately and just kinda picked up the Bitch not really thinking about things too much. I have five of the higher end Pacifica guitars. The Bitch on this recording has the early Dimarzio pickups. This guitar is heavily Dauged out. Meaning the body was routed out to improve sustain. This guitar was fitted with custom electronics. The Floyd Rose was tweaked in the Daug house years ago to cover the Jeff Beck stuff. It has had major fret work twice.
The guitar is too far back! The Jerry Garcia University of Musicianship diploma on my studio wall clearly says, "Volume above unity gain is an unnecessary affectation, there are at least two keyboards in the mix. I learned long ago on the gig to "Play in the band and not on top of the band." Sorry G, Van Halen Big Guitar will never appear on my recordings, you might get Tommy Bolin style orange crush but otherwise it's a Marshall 50 watt, Carvin Belair, or little Fender amp driven hard.
