Time Enough/Never Unending (1982 Track 9/10 - 2019 RPM Challenge)

Description
The last track is actually two overlapping songs, connected both thematically and musically. I remember growing up sometimes thinking how slow time moved. When you got up for the school bus on Monday, Friday afternoon seemed like it was an eternity away. Christmas, spring break, summer vacation would always seem so stubbornly far ahead. Now, I blink and the day is gone. Friday's here before I get my bearings on Monday and the years seem to fly. But I still remember what that feeling of looking forward to the future and seeing forever ahead of me.

For the 2019 RPM Challenge I decided to do an early 80s synth pop homage for this year's challenge, which was a lot of fun to put together. I even had fun making the artwork for the project. The idea was, it's 1982 and you're in your favorite mall browsing Camelot Music or Sam Goody and there it is in all it's XDR cassette goodness.

While it's all synth (no guitars), I did jump around a little stylistically and maybe borrowed some sounds and styles from a little later than 1982. But, I've reached the point in my life where the music of my youth has all blurred together, so it's at least authentic to my hazy memories.

As for the title of the project, 1982 was a big year for me. I turned 15, was a freshman in high school and got my driver's license. All big deals when you're growing up.

This wraps up my entry in this year's challenge. I had a lot of fun doing it, and I hope you folks enjoyed listening!

Lyrics
Time Enough/Never Unending

2019 Joseph Gurner

Sunrise
time enough for everything
time enough for worlds
to fall away

Lights go on
you walk onto the stage
look into the crowd
than take your bow

Time enough for everything but time
Time enough for everything but time
Time enough for everything but time
Time enough for everything but time

Seasons pass
like falling rain
spring turns into fall
hold the seconds in you hand

friendships last forever
then turn to dust before your eyes
Lovers fade into the past
time enough for tears to dry

Time enough for everything but time
Time enough for everything but time
Time enough for everything but time
Time enough for everything but time

When a dream is not enough
when the light begin to fade
I can’t see the future
looking though the past

When everything is quiet
and I hear my heart beating like a drum
I struggle through the silence
to find my way

it never ends
never ends
the path I started long ago
it never ends
never ends

When the night begins to fade
I look for the sun
to feel the warmth again
to know it never ends
