HUNTED

Description
Over the years I took several stabs at prog-rock. This tune, originally done back in 2007, was IMHO probably my most successful effort.

I have re-sung the vocals for this posting and done a thorough remix and remaster. It no longer makes me wince, and that's a good thing! Ha ha...

The artwork is Francisco Goya's depiction of the Greek god Saturn (Kronos) devouring one of his sons... Yuk!

Very nice, Micheal,...
once again you provide quality. Yikes, Goya. My Dad was an artist and Goya was his favorite artist. This particular painting caused several people to commit suicide. Goya, the master of chiroscuro (contrast between light and dark).

Wow Ean!
I didn't realize how negatively some folks were affected by this painting. I was thinking along the lines of the Gita's "I am become Time, devourer of worlds."

Hey friend, thanks for the educational comment!

No one know what prog is.
This does have that early 70's sound, terrifying graphic (thanks, Mr Goya)and reference to time. When you went "1234" you should have gone to 7/4 time to be truly prog! Fun!

Perhaps you're right. I listen to a lot of prog, but don't really know exactly what it is. In my old mind various genres spill over into each other. EPIC rock might be a more fitting genre...

That mid-section was designed to be fun for sure... to build up the tension before the lead soloing.

Glad you enjoyed it Graham!

The graphic is a bit intense -- shades of GoT. The drum riffs remind me of how I used to play in rock bands back in the late 60's and early 70's. Thanks for the memories.

Purple keys indeed...
I concur! RE the freak out: it was a lot of fun to do that...

And thanks for the thumbs up on the vocal. The original vocal kept going sharp. I had to replace the whole thing. Glad I still have the pipes!

keep the hits coming!
The remixing your doing is paying off. The reworks show your tunes off in a much better manner.
The vocal here is compelling.

I've taken to heart...
...the mixing advice you gave me awhile back. It has helped a lot. The rest, of course, depends on these old ears.

Thanks again Daug!

You old hippy!
Catches the 60s/70s vibe well.

Fine vocals and the Hammond is inspired.

Cheers

I do wear my sordid past rather well. Funny, I really most of what I embraced in the 60s. Except the music... That will never happen!

RE the keys... I was in the zone. Doesn't always happen... I got lucky that day. :-)

Lots to like here Mike
I like all the individual tracks, and what they contribute to the song, although I have to admit up front that I'm not a fan of fuzzed-out guitar, and here, that is the predominant track that I'm hearing. You've certainly taken on a big job putting this together.

Not crazy about the mix - email me if you want a detailed critique. I've been away so long I'm uncertain about how direct to be in the comments.

Cheers from Oz,
Neil
