Description
No song writer's repetoir would be complete without a song about trains would it?

This song is my first attempt at actually writing a song using a mandolin I've been trying to learn. It started out as a little rhythm I put together on the mandolin then I tried playing a little picking along with it. I sort of like that so I added some guitar. At that point I figured it needed some words and as long as I was going Folksy I better write a song about missing a train driving woman.

Its just a short 2 minute diddy but I think its sort of infectious and I just can't stop listening to it. I hope you like it as much as I do. Its really like Folk-blues if you ask me.

Lyrics
My baby runs a choo choo train
my baby runs a choo choo train
but she's driving me insane

She rolls along from state to state
but I don't miss her anyway, oh no

She toots her horn as she rolls by
sometimes it makes me want cry
and I think of her each day

If I don't know just where she'll be
I imagine her right next to me baby

I love her ever so much
I miss her feel I need her touch
I can't wait to hear her say

as she whispers into my ear
baby I'm your engineer oh yea

in too short a time she's gone again
as she rolls her train around the bend
I think of her and say

I miss her more than I know
but she'll be back again at least I hope so
someday

Great
I truly enjoyed everything about this song. It really does have a down home feeling. One thing that caught me off guard was the quick ending. Very nice work:)

AWESOME!!!
Dude, This tune is super! Everything is just perfect! Your
voice, the instruments, the words, your delivery, your
attitude. All the components work off each other. Style
and taste.
Just work out the end, something hot that compliments
the rest of the good work that you've done. Thanks for
posting!

Love it.
Brilliant mando playing. Steve Earle is in the house.
You've got a lovely voice and the guitar and mandolin fair
swing along.

And this: as she whispers into my ear

Down Home
This is great! Lyrics and music are perfect. You did this
one right- great soulful singing and playing. The only
thing that bothered me is how it ended... too soon and all.

Great!
Reminds me of the music from "Oh Brother Where Art
Thou?" with George Clooney.

Skillful, in-tune picking. Vocals are just right for the
style. Your Shure mic does a nice job.

Funky and Real
Great to hear someone else doing this style of music. I
think in the rush to technical perfection, sometimes the
soul is edited out. This song proves once again that music
doesn't have to be complicated to be great.

Funky and Real
Thanks Bronco! I think the simplicity is my favorite thing about this song. I have found that with Garageband its all to easy to think you need to find one more instrument, one more track to add that will "fill it out". I'm trying going back to the basics :-)
