Can I Turn Now (MacJams Re-remix)

[Explicit]

Description
Based on the feedback I got from the good folks here at MacJams I decided to give it another go. Hopefully the vocals should be clearer now. I also reworked some of the start / stops. I especially like the one where the bass kicks twice after "You look like a question mark".

I also gave the psychedelic guitars a bit more boost (Angelo's excellent add-on track that got a bit lost in the original mix of the song) and moved the (almost inaudible) Can I Turn Now-sample from the beginning to between verse number one and the chorus.

I think it's a more refined track and a good excersise for perfecting the original track when I get back to Norway next month. Stay tuned!

Lyrics
I went too far into something weird
can I turn now?
I seconded guessed I guess

I wanna shine like I always do
when I'm happy
now I'm a fucking mess

Don't wanna tell you I'm sorry
when I'm not sorry
You trivialize my pain

If I'm not pleasant enough to you
it's a pity
Believe me I’m not the same

If my battle is inside
I have to hide
'cause I know you never learn
the deeper meaning
Wish I was a child again
I knew my world back then
All I think about is how
can I turn now

I went along with the things
I feared that would hurt me
to hide that I was afraid

You came along at a bad time
wishing to change me
My plans were already made

And now I see it's a lot to
ask of somebody
You look like a question mark

'cause when you see my bright skin
and my shining eyes
you'd never think that I was this dark

But my battle is inside
I'll have to hide
'cause I know you'll never learn
the deeper meaning
Wish I was a child again
I knew my world back then
All I think about is how
can I turn now

Wish I was a child again
I knew my world back then
All I think about is how
can I turn
can I turn
now

I went to far into something weird
can I turn now
(I went too far into something weird)

I went to far into something weird
can I turn now
(I went too far into something weird, can I turn now?)

It plays
Not bad at all. Kind of a Bangles under the boardwalk at
times. Percussion's very effective

It plays
Second Bangles-reference attached to this song. I might have listened to little to
Bangles in my life to hear the similarities :)

"Just another manic depressive Monday"?
This sounds great. I really like the production on the vocals (my biggest issue with many GB songs).

"Just another manic depressive Monday"?
Thank you so much. It does help a lot when vocals are professionally recorded
(which these were). I also found that mixing vocals separately (soloing all vocal
tracks) before mixing them with instruments also helped.

Stop/start!!!
This is wonderful. It's just got that extra notch of
definition both rhymically in the stop-start bits and in the
vocals which turns it into a really, really excellent remix.
Really worth the extra work.

That's it
You did it right with the vocals. This is top shelf, ready to
press, blister wrap and send to CD outlets everywhere.
Sweet!

Much cleaner, stronger
I liked the 1st version, but the vocals are more prominent
here and the production is catchier. Nice changes to a
great song.

slammin'
Very enjoyable high energy tune... I think I liked this
version the best. Wasn't sure about some of the riffs
on the more "rock" version, although it was a tough
choice!!

Kickin'!
Awseome number and production! It's amazing what creative folk like you can get out of GB. I thought for sure that this would be a Logic Pro mix or an assortment of other software. Great job!
